The SofPort® IOL platform is a three-piece design with blue PMMA haptics with an overall length of 13mm.
The SofPort® IOL platform comes in two variants. Variant AO has an aspheric bi-convex optic design while the SE variant has a spherical optic design. Both options provide a 360-degree square-edge. SofPort is indicated for lens placement in either the ciliary sulcus or capsular bag.1
The eye is not a perfect optical system, due to its visual axis not passing through the center of the cornea, pupil, or lens.1 The pseudophakic eye is naturally decentered with mean pupil displacement measuring 0.37 ± 0.24 mm.2
Clinical studies demonstrate that IOL decentration is omnipresent in cataract surgery, with mean decentration from 0.24-0.53 mm.3-5
The decentration of an IOL with either positive or negative spherical aberration can induce defocus, astigmatism, and coma.
The SofPort® monofocal IOL was designed to compensate for the eye’s natural imperfections and deliver outstanding visual outcomes to a wide range of patients.
The SofPort® IOL has an aberration-free optic design that is less sensitive to the effects of misalignment or decentration than non-AO lenses.1 The optic design is neutral to the induction of positive or negative spherical aberrations and does not induce significant high-order aberrations.2
The SofPort® IOL is delivered with an easy-load, disposable inserter. The IOL is contained in a preloaded cartridge that is clicked into the inserter body. This single-handed planar IOL delivery system supports an incision size as small as 2.4 mm. The EZ-24 delivery system allows for 2.4 – 2.8mm incision sizes and the EZ-28 delivery system allows for 2.8 - 3.0mm incision sizes.1
SofPort® IOL is a truly surgeon-friendly advanced optic that unfolds gently and controllably within the eye.1 It is designed with an aberration-free optic for a sulcus or capsular bag placement.
