FilterRing™ Component

Filters out peripheral low optimal quality (OQ) light entering the eye, delivering only high OQ central light rays to the retina. Made from carbon black Polyvinyldene Fluoride (PVDF), IC-8^® Apthera™ IOLs feature a 1.36mm aperture and a total diameter of 3.23mm.

The Apthera™ IOL mitigates the reduction in visual acuity caused by defocused peripheral or aberrated light that degrades image quality. By allowing only central light rays to focus on the retina, IOL patients achieved more than 2.0 diopters (D) of continuous, functional range of vision.^1,*

Wavefront-filtering Technology

The IC-8™ Apthera™ IOL is a presbyopia-correcting lens that combines the proven principle of small aperture optics with the quality of an aspheric monofocal IOL to deliver a continuous range of vision for cataract patients from distance to near vision

The Apthera IOL’s wavefront-filtering technology delivers seamless visual acuity from near to far, free from the “blurry zones” found in traditional presbyopia-correcting IOL designs.

Corneal Astigmatism Management (up to 1.5 D)

The Apthera IOL delivers quality results in eyes with no or as much as 1.5 D of corneal astigmatism without the demanding process of axis alignment.^1,2

Contrast Sensitivity

The Apthera™ IOL group achieved comparable binocular contrast sensitivity to the Monofocal control group with and without glare in bright light conditions.¹

Continuous Range of Vision

Implanted contralaterally with a monofocal IOL in the fellow eye, the Apthera™ IOL maintains 20/32 vision across 2.21 D, and 20/40 vision across 2.81 D of binocular distance-corrected depth of focus.¹
