The haptic fenestrations facilitate intraoperative lens manipulation. This allows for both clockwise and counterclockwise manipulation when positioning the lens in the capsular bag.1 The fenestrated haptics also function to prevent transfer of stress from the haptic to the optic, helping the lens keep its spatial integrity in the presence of capsular bag contraction.
